Dr. M. H. Krishna, (the Director of Archaeology of the erstwhile Mysore state) who discovered the inscription in 1936 dated the inscription to 450 CE. This inscription in old-Kannada was found in Halmidi village near Hassan district. Many other inscriptions having Kannada words had been found like .

Other inscriptions having Kannada words had been found like the Brahmagiri edict of 230 BCE by Ashoka. 

 Kannada is the only Indian language for which a foreigner Ferdinand Kittel wrote a Dictionary.

The only Indian author who got maximum awards for literature is Shri Kuvempu who is a proud Kannadiga.

We Kannadigas support every thing, we adapt to every other language(just like me, as I'm writing in English) . And at end of the day we recieve this title. 

Our Karnataka flag is combination of yellow and red? You know why? It's a symbolic representation of respecting woman (as we women use turmeric and saffron, tradition in Hindu ).
